Discover the vibrating Greek capital in early September! FaveLAB offers two 2-week studio residencies in central Athens – Exarchia and Kypseli. Artists and designers working with painting (small formats), photography, textile art, graphic art, comics, jewelry, crafts, as well as writers, researchers, art theorists, art historians, curators are encouraged to apply.
Residency dates: From 2-15 September. Applications will be considered upon submission.
Duration of residency: Two weeks.
The (90m2/102m2) Exarchia studio apartment is located in the very central artist district of Athens, 8 minutes walk from the very city center (Omonia Square) or 20 minutes from Monastiraki Square / Ancient Agora. The neighboring National Archaeological Museum is 3 minutes away. Cafés, restaurants and art supplies are nearby. The apartment can host one or, upon request, two artists. It is located on the 3rd floor of a modern 80's building with elevator.
Price: single artist – 580,00 EUR / two fellow artists – 730,00 EUR.

The Kypseli studio apartment is a two-room studio (52m2) in Kypseli, 5 minutes walk to the bus and trolley station, and 20 minutes bus ride to Syntagma Square (or 8 minutes bus ride to subway station Victoria Square). Famous Patission Street is nearby.
Kypseli is an upcoming neighborhood with a growing art and crafts scene, interesting Art Deco and Bauhaus buildings, restaurants, cafés and bars etc. Kypseli, a non-tourist/non gentrified neighborhood has also a very good food market and is a good choice for artists who wish to experience Greek life among locals.
The studio apartment can accommodate one artist. It is located in the 4th floor of a late 1960s residential building with elevator. The studio has excellent light conditions.

At the start of the residency, artists receive individual tips and information for their specific work or research planned during the studio residency. Residents are encouraged to write their Athens memoirs to be published in SMCK Magazine along with photos of their work.
The artist is expected to show a professional interest in the Athens visit, e.g. by planning to carry out research or realize work during the studio residency. Minimum age for application is 30 years.
